Why You Should Be Shopping Cruelty Free
You may think testing on animals is a thing of the past. It’s cruel and inhumane so why would brands continue to harm animals and test on them? Yet countless of cosmetic brands are still continuing to test on animals.
Over 500,000 animals suffer and die worldwide every year in cosmetic tests and many others are severely hurt.
Not only is animal testing cruel and harmful to the animals, but it’s also been proven to no longer be the most effective way to determine the quality of a product. Yet cosmetic brands are still using animals to test their products on.
Unfortunately, many brands are still continuing to test their products on animals. Brands like Maybelline, Benefit Cosmetics and Clinque are a few of many popular high-street brands that are paying for tests on animals in China.
However, it is not all negative as in recent years the industry has made great progress and the issue is a main concern for many cosmetic brands. Hundreds of brands are pushing for change in the industry and are focused on becoming more ethical companies.
With many cosmetic brands claiming to be ethical, it can sometimes be difficult to know what to believe. So, here are some of my favourite brands that are 100% cruelty free:
Lush
For many years Lush have promoted their brand value of not testing on animals. All of their products are cruelty free and all materials they use are suitable for vegetarians with no animal derivatives contained in them. Lush have organised many campaigns to expose the industry for animal testing. So, they’re a great brand to follow and purchase from as they genuinely care for the environment and the animals.
The Body Shop
Since 1989 The Body Shop have been fighting for animal rights. They’re cruelty free, 100% vegetarian and 50% vegan. They have made a real commitment to being a sustainable and ethical brand, so they’re a brand that is worth spending your money on.
Fenty Beauty
Fenty is a brand on everyone’s radar currently, so you’ll be glad to know they never test their products on animals, nor do they allow their suppliers to conduct testing on their behalf. They’re focused on making more of their products vegan and their Fenty Skin range is a fully vegan line.
These are only a few of thousands of brands that are cruelty free. If you want to check out ethical cosmetic brands, then click the link here to see a full list of companies that don’t test on animals.
Despite some cosmetic brands continuing to test on animals, there is a huge variety of brands that are working towards ending animal testing entirely. Next time you’re purchasing your makeup or toiletries make sure to check up on your favourite brands to know if their products are harmful to the animals or not!
