How to up-cycle your way to being the best gift giver

Christmas? Birthdays? Freaking out about what to gift your loved ones for special occasions? We all know how stressful buying presents is. The amount of time spent surfing the internet, or trying to find last year's leftover wrapping paper for a present that will not even be looked at again after the 25th can be exhausting not only for you, but also your bank account. So what is the solution? How can you out-do new and shiny with old and, as Cher from clueless would say, so last season?

With second hand clothing surging in popularity over the last year, up-cycling has never been more appropriate than now.

  1. Vintage clothing

Has your bestie been talking non-stop about a pair of UGGS? Or Vintage, impossible to find, Levi’s jeans? Try looking on Vinted or Depop. There you will find endless options for cheaper from people who want to give their old items another chance. You will be able to save a lot of money whilst surpring the person you are gifting (maybe even find something for yourself)

  1. Unique DIY

If you are looking for a gift that is a bit less generic, then try making a personalised scrapbook! This will

require a lot of time in order to collect tickets, photos and little items you save over time. However, it is a

completely unique and a one in a million gift. Minimal money will be spent as all the best parts of the present are created from memories and previous experiences! You can include almost anything and add your very own personal touch.

  1. Your unwanted items

This one has a different perspective. How can YOU be the best gift giver using up-cycling? What better than supplying someone else across the world with their perfect gift? Donate your unwanted clothes to your local charity or upload them onto online marketplaces and second-hand apps. You may hold an item that could make someone's entire day or even year! I hope you have been inspired to use up-cycling for your gifts this year and good luck!
